What is the best time to see tulips in the Netherlands?
Tulip season in Amsterdam starts in the end of March and lasts till early May. It’s hard to predict the exact blooming times as they highly depend on the weather. In Keukenhof itself there is always a big variety of flowers in bloom. But if you want to see tulip fields, we recommend to visit the Netherlands in the last two decades of April.
Tickets to the tulip fields: You don’t need a ticket to view the fields from the distance or bike through the area. However, it’s not allowed to enter the flower fields. And if you want to take nice photos in the fields, you can visit special farms:
- The Tulip Barn (at 130 3e Loosterweg, 2182 CX, Hillegom, a short train ride to Hillegom station followed by a 15-20 minute walk along the flower fields), open from 27 March till 10 May 20265, daily from 9:30 till 19:00.
- Tulip Experience Amsterdam (at Delfweg 37, 2211VK, Noordwijkerhout, 10 minutes by bike from Keukenhof), open from 19 March till 10 May 2026, daily from 9:00 till 18:00.
You can also book a tour to Keukenhof + Tulip Experience from Amsterdam.
And the last but not the least
- Keukenhof park opening times: 08:00 – 19:00 daily, including the King’s Day and Easter weekend.
- Keukenhof address: Stationsweg 166A, 2161 AM, Lisse, The Netherlands.

Visiting Keukenhof in March can be a wonderful experience, even if it’s a bit early for peak tulip season. The park is already bursting with color thanks to crocuses, daffodils, and fragrant hyacinths. The first tulips usually begin to bloom toward the end of the month, depending on the weather. Check the Holland Explorer blooming reports to get an impression of what you can see in Keukenhof in Match. In general, it’s a quieter time to visit and a great option if you enjoy spring flowers without the crowds. In 2026 Keukenhof is open from 19 March.
