Best time to visit Keukenhof in 2025

In 2025 Keukenhof is open from 20 March to 11 May. It stays beautiful the whole season. But most travellers want to visit Keukenhof during special festival events and during the fields blooming season. We’ll try to help you to decide when is the best time to visit Keukenhof in 2025.

Latest update: March 2025 has been pretty cold in the Netherlands, so the blooming season is starting slightly later. The best time to visit Keukenhof in 2025 is after 10 April. Please take into account that lots of people are postponing their visit until the peak season, so there is a high chance that Keukenhof tickets will be sold out. We recommend booking your tickets in advance.

You can also already book Keukenhof tickets with direct transfer from the center of Amsterdam (from € 35 to € 52,50 depending on date and time) for the 2025 season.

In 2025 the Keukenhof gardens entry tickets and combi-tickets are valid for one-time entry on a specific date and time. Some dates and time slots can be sold out quickly. If you’re planning to visit Keukenhof during the peak season (April – first week of May), book your tickets well in advance.

Tip! If you are visiting the Netherlands in spring, book tickets to the most popular venues and museums (like the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank house). If you want to travel inside Europe (to Paris, Brussels, Bruges, etc), order tickets in advance.

Blooming season at Keukenhof

Keukenhof is beatiful during the whole opening season (20 March – 11 May 2025). However, to experience the gardens in the full floral splendor, the peak blooming period is usually in April.

Here’s a breakdown of the timing:

Mid-March to early April: The early bloomers, such as crocuses and some early tulips, begin to appear. It’s a quieter time to visit, so you can enjoy the beauty of the flowers without the larger crowds.
Mid to late April: This is when the majority of the tulips and other flowers are in full bloom. The gardens are at their most colorful and vibrant, with millions of flowers in bloom. It’s the peak time to visit, though it can be more crowded, especially on weekends.
Early May: The tulips may start to fade, but many other flowers like lilies, orchids, and hyacinths remain in bloom. It’s a good time to visit if you prefer slightly fewer crowds and still want to see a variety of flowers.

For the best experience, try to visit during the middle of the blooming season (late April) to catch the full display of tulips at their peak. Keep in mind that Keukenhof is only open for a limited time each year, so planning your trip within this window ensures you don’t miss the fun!

When can you see the tulip fields near Keukenhof in bloom?

To see the tulip fields in bloom we recommend to visit Keukenhof from last decade of April to the first decade of May (though the exact dates are very dependent on weather). During this period the chance to see the flower fields in the Lisse and Hillegom area (around Keukenhof) in bloom is the highest.

Bloemencorso Flower Parade in 2025

Another great occasion to visit the Netherlands in spring is the Dutch Flower Parade near Keukenhof. This season it will take place on 12 – 13 April 2025. It will start on 12 April 2025 around 9:15 in Noordwijk. Approximately at 14:45 the beautiful cars decorated with flowers will process to Keukenhof and around 20:55 will arrive to Haarlem. On 13 April 2025 the flower compositions will remain in Haarlem.

We definitely resommend to visit this unique flower show! Please keep in mind that on 12 April 2025 the roads near Keukenhof will be blocked and the park will be crowded. So it can be a good idea to see the Flower parade on 12 or 13 of April, and to visit Keukenhof one day before or later.

Book your Keukenhof tickets in advance, as the dates around the Flower Parade were sold out even before the start of the Keukenhof opening season.

Helicopter tours above the flower fields in 2025

One of the most special things to do during the tulip season is a Tulip Field Helicopter Flight. During the flight you can see the Dutch tulip fields, homes, villages, flower farms, windmills, dunes, the coastline, and the flowering Keukenhof.

Helicopter tours are organized only for a few days during the tulip season: on 12, 13, 19 and 20 April 2025. One more reason to visit Keukenhof in April!

There are some days during the Keukenhof season which are usually the most popular:

Dutch school vacations (18 April – 4 May 2025)
King’s Day (26 April 2025)

If you plan to visit the gardens on these days, we recommend to book tickets as soon as you start planning your trip.

So when it the best time to visit Keukenhof in 2025?

We would say it’s the best to vist Keukenhof between 11 April and 4 May 2025, as during these weeks you can get the most complete experience. There is one thing to keep in mind if you’re visiting Keukenhof during these time – these will be lots of people. That’s why we recommend to book tickets, arrange a hotel in advance, and visit the gardens early in the morning, just after the opening.

If you want to enjoy flowers without crowds, the best time to visit Keukenhof is between 08:00 and 09:30 in the morning or after 17:00 (tip! evening light can be great for the photos).
