Public transport in Amsterdam on New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve (31 December 2024) you can use all GVB buses, trams, metro and ferries in Amsterdam until 20:00.
Public transport in Amsterdam on New Year’s Day
On Sunday, 1 January 2025 the GVB timetable starts at 01:30. This applies to all GVB night buses, metro lines 52 and 54. A ticket for the night bus costs € 5,40. It is also included in GVB multi-day tickets. The timetable for Sundays and public holidays applies to all other GVB transport.
Trains around Amsterdam on New Year’s Eve and Day
On New Year’s Eve (31 December 2024) there will also be no trains after 20:00. Train service will resume on New Year’s Day around 10:00.
Trains between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Centraal will run until 22:00. From 1:00 on 1 January 2025 the night network will operate on the route Rotterdam Centraal – Delft – The Hague Hollands Spoor – Leiden Centraal – Schiphol Airport – Amsterdam Centraal – Utrecht Centraal, with additional stops at Amsterdam Bijlmer and Amsterdam Sloterdijk. As last year, night trains will run between Haarlem and Amsterdam. For the first time, Zaandam will also have a night connection to Amsterdam on New Year’s Eve.
Trains and buses to Schiphol airport
Please note there will be no trains to Schiphol airport between 22:00 and 02:00. After 22:00, there will be no trains to and from the airport. Most trains will start running again from 02:00, to Leiden Central from 01:00.
On 31 December 2024 there will be no more buses to and from Schiphol after 20:00. The buses will start running again on 1 January 2025. Buses will operate according to a Sunday timetable.
International trains
There will be extra domestic trains running from Amersfoort Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal shortly before or after the Intercity Berlin from Friday 20 December to Tuesday 31 December 2024. This may result in minor changes to departure times or platform changes on this route.
