From Schiphol airport to Amsterdam by train
Schiphol airport railway station is located directly below the airport. Take an escalator or an elevator from Schiphol Plaza hall downstairs and board the train.
A direct train will take you to the center of Amsterdam (Amsterdam Centraal station, or Amsterdam CS) within 17 minutes. Usually trains from Schiphol to Amsterdam city center depart from platforms 1 or 2.
Ticket price. A single train ticket from Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal in 2024 costs € 5,90. For children age 4-11 there is a special kids ticket – Railrunner. It costs € 2,50 and is valid all day in all domestic trains.

When you travel by public transport in the Netherlands you need to check-in and check-out. For the train you need to check-in at the station, and in the bus you can do it inside. You will see the yellow validation machines on Schiphol Plaza, before going down to the platforms.
How to get from Schiphol to Amsterdam by bus
To get from Amsterdam airport to the city center, you can take Connexxion bus line 397 (known as The Amsterdam Airport Express) or N97 (Niteliner). It will take you from Schiphol Plaza to Leidseplein and Museum Square (Museumplein)
Ticket price. In 2024 the bus ticket it costs € 6,50 one-way). You can buy the ticket directly from the driver Alternatively you can order a return ticket (Schiphol – Amsterdam – Schiphol) by bus 397 online (€ 11,75).
Bus departure times. The bus departs every 8 minutes from bus stop B17.

Taking a taxi is the most comfortable way to get from Schiphol airport to Amsterdam.
