The distance from Amsterdam to Keukenhof gardens is 40 km. Although there isn’t a train station close to Keukenhof, direct shuttle buses operate between Amsterdam and the gardens during the park’s opening season. In 2025 Keukenhof is open from 20 March 20 to 11 May.
Taking a direct Keukenhof bus from Amsterdam is the most comfortable way to travel to Keukenhof. There are two transfer buses operating between Amsterdam and Keukenhof.
Keukenhof bus departing from the This is Holland experience
With this transfer you always get a guaranteed seat (unlike in public transport). Comfortable coach buses depart from Amsterdam every 30 minutes from 08:00 till 15:30. You can stay at Keukenhof as long as you want. The last bus back to Amsterdam departs at 18:30, and you can take any bus – return times are flexible.

How to get do the departure point? Take a free GVB ferry from Amsterdam Central Station to the opposite side of the IJ river (direction Buiksloterweg), where This is Holland is just 2 minutes walk away.
You will see direction signs to This is Holland.
At the entrance to This is Holland attraction you have to check-in with your online ticket. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before departure. During the check-in, you will also receive a return ticket to Amsterdam. After that you will be guided to the bus.
Tours & Tickets Keukenhof bus from Amsterdam Centraal station
Departure point: De Ruijterkade, 34 (the opposite side of the Central train station of Amsterdam). Before departure you have to check-in with your online ticket at the Tours & Tickets office.

Keukenhof public transport bus from Amsterdam
You can also travel from Amsterdam to Keukenhof by direct public transport bus line 852 from Amsterdam RAI/ Europaplein. It’s slightly cheaper than Keukenhof transfer bus (combi-ticket costs € 37 for adults and €15 for kids).
Please note:
- if you travel with a combi-ticket, you will need a separate public transport ticket to travel from Amsterdam center to Amsterdam RAI by metro line 52.
- on KeukenhofBuzz 852 you don’t get a guaranteed seat. On a busy day some travellers might have to stand.
