All public smoking spaces both before and after security at Schiphol are smoke-free. Smoking in the parking garages is also no longer been permitted since 1 August 2020. These are the consequences of a Supreme Court decision to close all smoking zones in the hospitality sector in the Netherlands.

Dutch laws also prohbit indoor smoking in public spaces.

There is only one smoking zone at Schiphol, before security. Travellers can still smoke at the designated locations in Jan Dellaertplein, the square outside Schiphol Plaza.

This rule also applies to the transfer passengers. If you are waiting for a connecting flight and want to smoke, you’ll also need to go to Jan Dellaertplein. Please take into account that you will need to go through security again, which can be time-consuming. In some cases, you may also need a visa to enter the Netherlands.
