The area has several fun attractions for children, so you can combine the gardens with playgrounds, interactive museums, or other kid-friendly places. This way, both adults and children can enjoy the day.

Things to do near Keukenhof with kids if you travel by car

1. Space Expo (21 minutes drive from Keukenhof) museum. Is you kid a fan of space ships and is he dreaming about travelling to the moon? Visit Space Expo and explore the wonderous world of space travel, learn about satellites, astronauts, and Europe’s space missions.

Kids older than 9 can also take the Space train and get a unique insight into the buildings of ESA ESTEC and the European Space Agency.  Tickes for the Space train can be booked online one week in advance. The Space Train tour is in English and Dutch.

2. CORPUS experience (20 minutes drive) is an interactive body museum near Leiden. It invites its visitors for a “spectacular journey through the human body” and gives a unique close-up into how a person’s body functions. There are also lots of exciting tests and fun games to play. The minimum age to visit CORPUS is 6 years.

3. Naturalis (24 minutes drive) is a big natural history museum in Leiden where children can learn about dinosaurs, animals, and biodiversity.

4. Linnaeushof (18 minutes drive), Europe’s biggest playground, is located in Heemstede, between Haarlem and Keukenhof. It has 350+ play sets and attractions such as cable cars, a trampoline, pedal boats, go-karts, bump bikes, miniature golf courses, a monorail, a water playground, a super slide and many more. Fun for everyone!

5. Madurodam (36 minutes drive), a miniature park. The Netherlands are too big to see the whole country in one day. But in the miniature city of Madurodam you can explore its highlight: tiny windmills, great palaces, famous Dutch landmarks and historical cities. All replicas in the theme park are made in 1:25 scale. You will feel like a fairy tale giant!

Madurodam is located in the Scheveningen district of The Hague, so you can combine it with a visit to the beach. And there you can also visit the LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Scheveningen.

Things to do with children if you travel without a car

1. Madurodam. Book a day trip to Keukenhof + Madurodam from Amsterdam, and a comfortable air-conditioned coach bus will take you to both destinations in one day – and then back to Amsterdam.

2. LAM museum is located just a short walk away from Keukenhof. Nestled amid the greenery of the Keukenhof Estate in Lisse, in a unique building, it invites the visitors to take a special look at everyday subjects such as eating, drinking, and shopping.
