Free bike rental with the I amsterdam card: how does it work?
If you have an I amsterdam City Card, you can rent a bike for free for 24 hours. Please note:
- this is only possible once per card
- your city card should be valid at the time of your visit
- you can rent a bike for free for 24 hours, not for the duration of your card.

Do I need to make a reservation at the bike rental with the I amsterdam card?
It depends on the bike rental. You can generally rent a bike with your I amsterdam city card without prior reservation. But if you want to be sure that the bike is waiting for you at the selected location, we recommend doing a reservation.
At A-Bike rentals you have to book a timeslot for your bike rental online.
Good to know:
At some bike rentals in Amsterdam you will have to show your ID and/or leave a deposit (€50 per bike), or leave a copy of your credit card.

Does the I amsterdam City Card include bike rental?
Yes. The I amsterdam City Card includes one free 24-hour bike rental at participating rental shops in Amsterdam and Volendam. This is a one-time perk, valid once per card.
How does the free bike rental with the I amsterdam card work?
You show your valid I amsterdam City Card at one of the participating rental shops and pick up a bike for 24 hours, free of charge. It’s only possible once per card, and your card must still be valid on the day you rent.
